In the previous episode, we’re ending with the long waited addition of Multiplayer, and now, a new ship was revealed with reworks.

This time with the ships…

We’ll start with the new ship.

There was a poll to decide which ability gets the chance to be in the game.

First one:

So it’s BX but with another weapon slot that’s independent from the other one, with different weapon combinations.

Next ability!

Sounds familiar… Hmmm… Is this an early version of the accumulator? That’s likely, also forgot to say.

Overdrive was always installed to the ship and couldn’t be unequipped from it, that later got changed.

What about the next one, hmmm…

It already looks too minor. I guess it has the least chance to be in the game out of the 2 others, right? Btw, it’s was supposed to be for Mullar family, not VF:

Anyway, back to the ship rework topic:

There were many changes including… The removal of BX-6…

Version 100

That day, BX-6 got removed to not being seen again… But what about people who already bought it?

Well, it just turns into BX-7 with paintjobs being ported to them normally. Aside from bx removal, a new feature came, which is allowing players to leave the league, apparently it’s hated that much due to a lack of good rewarding system…

Version 102

Now we finally got a new ship to the game! It’s been 80+ versions since we got a one…

And no, none of the abelites got added yet.. We’ll wait until we get it!

We also got extra hardpoints slot system, another thing to make players rush to getting CHL:


And even after all of this, you can’t sell it back…

Also, Boosters can be disabled, we now only have Overdrive, the booster that the game uses, But…

Remember when I said about one of VF abilities? We’ll, it’s going to be in the game, but in a different way…

Remember the charge/discharge ability? Now it can be used with any kind of ship as a booster! Yeah…

We still need a new ability for VF tho… Let’s see what happened in the new version!

Version 103

Some balances, ghost icon was added for destroyed players, VF balances. So far so good but… That suggestion started something…

About the Wingman Mode…

What about Hen Solo?

Wait, Hen Solo is a copied from… Millennium Falcon Han Solo’s Ship?

So we will never get Hen Solo in CIU, right?

right? I guess we won’t…

Version 105

We got the accumulator in the game, but.. It can’t be used in competition missions… Finishing a competitive mission will lead to a disqualification..

Are there any other features? Let’s see…

Oh. Some stuff like additive magic in Laser Scope, transparent HUD, we can now kinda play the game in HUDless mode.


At least we can see the planets behind the HUD:


Did you know that these planet “main color” change depending on the color theme main color?


Just a minor detail that I found interesting, anyway, let’s see what next versions going to offer…

Version 106

The accumulator is still banned from competitive missions. Specials weapons can be swapped by mouse wheel, new exhausts are added, everything looks good.

But The henpire has to ruin it… With their new recruits…

Mysterious Chicken Approaches

So we got a new chicken breed..

At the time of posting that topic, that chicken attack wasn’t revealed so let’s imagine how the attack will work.

Maybe it will throw these bottles at us causing damage? We’ll see.

Strange name, anyway It got added! time to open up and see how it works!

Version 107


So all what happens is that “Klaus” throws these bottles around the player and that area slows the player down? Booring… At least it’s a new design, Is it original this time?

Nope the name and the design came from “Klaus” Movie..


And to not panic about copyrights stuff, this chicken barely appear in the movie.

But we won’t stick to the name “Klaus”, we need a new name…

Here’s what iA decided, And to be honest, these names aren’t used in the game unlike Thundercluck:

Yep, the name changed and…

A NEW BOSS? That fast? And you know what does that mean old boss music reuse I mean, new music!

But do we even have time for new music? Nope, So what iA did is licensing some stock music and hope there aren’t any copyrights…

Version 108

Now we have the boss at the game! The boss name is “Dr Beaker”, yes Beaker name is inspired by this muppet:

Looks like these music are going to be removed… Except. Dr Beaker’s music?

So it will stay?
That’s great, even though we lost 3 tracks, there’s 1 survived and even after that loss, more tracks are coming this year! And they’ll be original!

Version 109

We got some changes to Dr Beaker, now his papers can be burned.

A new feature was added “Config Presets” just lets you choose between different sets, you can make a set filled with extra lives and another different set with special weapons.

Let’s ee the topic if there are any interesting suggestions, Hmmm, Aha! This one, just asks for changing asteroid appearance in frozen planets.

But of course, changing it in frozen planets only isn’t enough…
We should go further than that…

That why we shouldn’t go that far unless we get another galaxy reset…

And here we go to another suggestion…

The reason why I mentioned this is because… It got removed in later versions..

Anyway, going to the next version but this time, we got waaaaay more “new content”!

Version 110

So many waves, let’s count them! 1. 2, 3..4.5. 38! That’s too much… Aside from this, you noticed that fire asteroids in the “Asteroid Boss”?


It got fixed! And now they show the proper version! Wanted it to mention it as this “bug” was there even when that boss got introduced…

Speaking of environments… We’re getting a tweak to the hot environment! instead of just having shine only!

And the music issue is going to be fixed!!! GREAT!

What iA is doing is…

He doesn’t compose the music actually… He instead asks 2dbMusic (yes, an entire different company) to compose the music for iA.

Fun Fact: The composer is called “Doug Boyes” just so you know…

Anyway, what happens is that he proved some videos when he was making the music;

  • 1: Think of how it will sound like.
  • 2: Put effort to replicate in app
  • 3: Preview it.
  • 4: Redo the entire process for other tracks.

Now let’s see the music in game!
Version 112

Wait, they’re not there yet? Ok.. At least we got the chance to replicate The Episodes ships perfectly with the new…

SPAWN SHIELDS!

And we’re not just replicating episodes shields, we’re making our own shields!!!

And We’re back!

It didn’t take that long, anyway let’s see what got added to the current version, hmm…

Version 113

We’ve got a new enemy! A cold one. Chiller!
Also noticed some last-minute changes:

And also, it couldn’t attack… So we need an attack idea.. Who’s brave to prove a new attack concept? Oh here it’s:

With that we got the attack in the game!

And fun fact: when getting hit by a snowball, you don’t get actually frozen, instead, you’re getting tooo slow, similar to Alchemist but it’s potion is faster.

We got a cold enemy, what about a fire related one? Well, here’s what iA got:

And wait, that fast? The enemy got implemented that quickly?

Another fact, the enemy face is just a mix of “Drone chicken” and the turkey beak.

Oh that was quick! I guess the enemy is ready (just noticed it uses the normal legs instead of the “halloween ones”)

Oh it’s finished? That took just a week! Looks like the content are going to come pretty easily now. Let’s see what’s next…

Version 114

And we’ve got that enemy in the game! Let’s see what it does.

So it’s just Chiller clone but with different attack… ok. Anything else got added? Surprisingly, yes!

It’s Cuisines! What’s this? It just replaces the food appearance with other food, they don’t carry drumsticks all the time.

And btw, this isn’t “new”. It actually originated from one of CI3 unlockables:


This makes me wonder… Do chickens turn into fish or they were carrying some of them?

Second is possible as chickens also contain buns by default for burgers. Which makes another quesion.

Why do chickens hold drumsticks?

As apparently it’s not part of them. My theory is that they use them for reviving/cloning other chickens specifically from Earth somehow.

And also bosses hold multiple drumsticks. So I guess it’s the case.

I guess I'm overexaggerating just for game element.

Anyway.

Let’s continue our new content rush!

As we got 120 anniversary special, can’t we get one for CI2?
Of course we’ll get! Instead of the whole game remade in game.

We don’t want the game to be free in CIU. We also don’t waste time for just a whole remake. The remake part can be done later but we have few months until the anniversary.

What should we do? Hmmm… Let’s see what iA got:

So we get a downgrade effect that:

  • Pixilate stuff
  • Limit Colors
  • Downscale Assets
  • Use CI2-like music

There were also plans for disabled mouse controllers but thankfully this didn’t make the cut!

Now let’s go to the next version where we see that feature straight in the game!

Version 115

We’ve got new features like Pixie Dust which is a side visual effect similar to the exhausts but all what it does is spitting particles…

And of course these particles don’t do anything…

Also a whole redesign for the mission config to allow:

  • Multiple Cuisines
  • Multiple Backgrounds
  • Multiple Music

And lastly, Heat insight which all it does is adding lines around the ship to represent the heat meter on the ship directly, also wanna mention that it was shown in 2002 preview screenshot:

Version 116

We’ve got all music actually in the game, new unexpected ones. And with a new one coming soon to the game! Finally! And yes, hugo the great isn’t a boss track, it’s a wave track.

Any other changes? Oh yes, this secret thing…

What happens when we enable it? Let’s see..

And yes, not that exciting but worth mention.

Version 117

The main feature is Pot Luck, it’s just a daily mission which all players use the same equipment per difficulty.

Also, I wanna say something about.

The" Fleet Preview" now actually shows the ship:

This later got changed as it also makes the ship grid in the back look worse, iA doesn’t want to remove it so…

Now that’s much better!

Version 118

As we got Pot Luck, why don’t we get another challenge? Well, we got a new one this update! I already wonder how unique it is…

So it’s just Pot Luck but harder? Yes…

Also the Daily Mission got changed to “Today’s Scramble”. So far small stuff look like. Is there anything else got added?

Actually, yes!

Something new, great, with that, we got the chance to use backgrounds with other colors (like red, orange)!

But everything has its cost…

And that made backgrounds from colorful depending on both environment and background.

But now. If you got to an environment you’ll see them in one static color no matter the background…

Version 119

Even we got the background colorization to worse. We got a new background, and a new music!

And that’s not all, we’ve also got quests! The main attraction of this update! Let’s focus on quests, for just this update, the game got updated 8 times to make quests easier or harder.

And with all these updates, one of the quests got removed which is:

And because of the recent “2002 mode bug reports”, iA decided to… remove it.

Don’t worry it will come back in the next versions.

Version 121

There aren’t any new features but at least there’s a “new” season edition, at least it’s the first for CIU alone, introducing…

The Halloween Edition
And that’s not just replace stuff with CI5 halloween skins, no he couldn’t do that only.

As you know, the normal chickens didn’t have halloween skins before the update (because they basically didn’t have one). But with just some copy-paste work, we got the skin.

The other stuff include with actual new assets are:

  • Alchemist
  • Other Chicks
  • Thundercluck
  • Dr Beaker
  • Slob Chicken
  • Big Chicken Shirt

Yes, the shirt just got replaced with one with skull picture… boring…

But, this isn’t the only thing, there’s something approaching, the dream most players wanted to see. Wanted to try, introducing…

CIU goes to phones!

And finally, the dream became true! We’ll play the game in our phones! But, it’s not yet in play stores…

It’s just a test build which people download via apk. The classic way we downloaded games before when they weren’t in stores.

Let’s see the differences between our current phone version, and the old one.

Oh, one of the planned features was removing the ability to host games on phone…

Good it didn’t change, what else?

Fun fact: this menu still exists in the game, just go tot an area where you should write stuff but with a controller instead of a keyboard:

Version 123

Another edition? The time files! This time with Thanksgiving Edition, there was less time to do stuff as we mentioned above phone improving stuff, but let’s see what iA got to add.

Almost nothing new, except for making the chicks turkeys and the ability to look at the ship.
There’s something off about it however is that, they use the original chick pupils instead of their own…

The chickens didn’t even get to get reskinned, only their sound. At least Big Chickens got skins too, wait.. Most stuff aren’t combilable with the big chicken skin…


Agh, this edition ruins more, let’s just remove it, there are already too many issues.. Especially as big chickens asset is reused almost everywhere.

Version 124

Phew… That was close, are there any other editions? Yes, and the one we started with…

Remember 2002 mode we talked about? Now it’s here again. With a different prompt instead of being -2002test, it’s now -2002mode. This version now also include 2000s music which includes the og CI2 theme as replacement of the main CIU theme.

That’s it.

Version 125

A new feature came! Finally after all of this. What it does?

It just allows you to report players… And because beginners might report anyone for no reason, we’ve got a limit based on tiers, activity and other stuff which its details aren’t revealed.

And no, this isn’t tutorial tweaking or anything. It’s just stuff to protect the game from bad behavior like better spam limits, or whatever it got added, also.

The forum now has better defense against spammers:

And also, Xmas edition got added back. With that we got 3 versions in a row, each one containing a new edition.

And almost we’ll come to the LAST VERSION of Early Access! But before that, we need to go somewhere…

Galactic Party

Welcome, to the party perpetration phase. Every year from now on, we will do the same galactic party, in first we choose which location the party will be in. (where all people come to)

And then iA releases the update with the party and then we say it’s actually…

Early Access EXIT!!!

Version 126

Version got released after all, this year was filled with content, new enemies, however there’s no time to add new features yet… back to the party.

Going there and then the location gets a disco party inside of it, meanwhile we’re just watching it from outside…

And this isn’t the only thing, iA hosts there a multiplayer mission, with Linux?

And that’s not it, he still comes to CI Discord server and join the voice chat and… well chats with players. Sometimes talking about what’s next in the game to add.

And that’s it, the year ended! Expect more stuff to come in the next year, it will have new projects with interesting details about how iA makes his assets.
