Chicken Invaders Universe, Between the Past & Present (2020) #3

Today, we’re finally starting to talk about 2020, that year had COVID spread, did that slow the development? Did that fastened it? That’s we’ll see today!

Version 32

Not that much of new stuff were there, “drag & drop” feature was added to the mission config, which means you can drag an item and drop its copy into a slot using a mouse, that’s it.

Version 36

2 new stuff:

  • Crazy Squeaker
  • Absolver Beem

The difference here is that Absolver Beem had a different pitched sfx.

Meanwhile

we take a return to the weapon balancing series, with it being finished.

Weapon Rework Implementation into the Game

Version 38

This update featured mainly Re-worked Lighting fryer, with the ability to make a chain with enemies to damage further ones.

Now it’s not just a long-ranged weapon like laser, it has its own ability…

Version 39

Pausing slightly from the new rework, this update had Wester Easter season content, same as reskins from v31 but it’s more limited for example:

Chickens CI5 Bosses couldn’t be re-skined, CI5 reason is understandable but for the normal chickens…

Let’s think as iA to see why they were no normal chickens skin in Universe although there are 2 skins for the previous episodes:


CI3 is a chick, and we already have chicks in the game, so we’re not gonna reskin to chicks to avoid confusion.

But what about the rabbit? IMO, I don’t see any issues aside from the head, if there were different 3 expressions (like in-game ones) this might slove the problem, but iA didn’t have time for that.

So the chickens remained unskined…
By the way, Super Chick hasn’t been reskinned to “Feather Brain” we all know.

Version 40

A new weapon rework approached!

Ion Blaster!

One minor thing that changed that instead of Ion Blaster having 2 bullets for “big” version, it now has a big one instead.

Aside from the rework, more stuff were added, a button for unmounting mission config slots, New slot for boss music, etc…

Version 41

2 of 2 stuff, 2 bosses, 2 weapon reworks, too

For the Rework, we had:

  • Neutron Gun
  • Utensil Poker

Few values were changed in damage, etc… For the bosses, we have:

  • Chicken Exponentiality
  • Egg Cannon Cannon Cannon Cannonade

For the first one, think about it if CI5 had its own Chicken Multiplicity, within that, the first boss is Henperor’s Appreciate, but it has a new move!?

Yes, he can now move around! It may not be that big, but for me, it looked great, like finally that boss isn’t frozen anymore!

For The Egg Cannonnade, it’s a funny story, in short, it’s straight up from a meme:

Now this is canon!

Another thing is that the Egg Cannon had to be re-rendered to make the new fight and obviously there won’t be problems of that small change, right?
Version 43

Back to weapon rework with… ““Positron Stream”

One of the main changes is the beam is now transparent:

Aside from this, Hero Quips were added, which means, the pilot in ship will sometimes comment about events in-mission.

Version 44

More quips, Plasma rework, and finally: Customizable Hardpoints!

Back then, hardpoints had the same position, colors and couldn’t be changed but this update changed that.

With even new Ghost Trail hardpoint, yes, it’s this one:

New wave feature “Anomaly zone”, you know what does that mean? New waves!

Aside from this, new paintjobs were added, Magnetic Manipulator got colored depending on environment.

Version 47

Photon Swarm got a rework!

New color gifts to it with a new ability to home into enemies.

Version 48

Every single weapon has finally got reworked! Except for…

Absolver Beem, aside from the reworks, new “CI3” exhaust was added, Near Overheat feature to many weapons.

Version 49

There was issue that made the weapons NEVER overheat, it got fixed that update, but hey, that’s not it, introducing:

Weapon Data SpreadSheet

This is the weapon data spreadsheet, it includes values of many stuff about in-game weapons, the values can be changed by players to experience their own “rework”.

Another note, you can still use this sheet, even after there are anti-cheats, you won’t get banned.

Version 51

Now that sheet can be applied to the game, some more customizations, etc..

Version 52

A wave of waves have approached!

All what’s this update about is new waves. In first, it was going to be a random boring update with no new content, but, iA added more stuff with in plan to resume the wave waves as it’s been a while.

That’s it.

Version 53

Of course, the weapon data should be used for something, some reworked values for weapons, Also, more features:

  • Environments now actually do something instead of just being visual.
  • New mission “Feather FIeld” and with new missions, new boss!

For the environments, the bg strikes were removed, for the boss, it’s seen before. It’s literally the reskin of Super Chick from CI4 Easter:

But that doesn’t mean it’s bad, it’s a great one, it’s for now the only boss which use anomaly zones, and like every special mission boss.

It spawns the previous waves of that mission, but with faster-pace, I really like turning minor skins into their own fights, wonder if Infinite-Chicken Easter skins would get that treatment.

Version 57

Introducing, Accounts!

Remember the accounts feature iA said way back in Plan Updates?

Yes, he’ll implement CHL! However, the difference here that the email accounts can be created without CHL.

At least iA got an excuse to stop searching for “lost accounts”.

Version 60

Fun fact: It still exists in-game files. If this got reused, this may be a good fit in 1st player in leaderboards.

Still, new stuff are getting added to the next update, the double team!

Version 61

CHL is there, with its features! Double Team & IronMan, there are also non-CHL stuff like shady dealers, there’s one slight difference.

They had green light in their UFO instead of purple, and even all ufos had that green light.

And the icon has been finally updated to match “Universe”!

Yes, it’s the exact same ship from CI5 Teasers…

This will change soon, and finally, new enemy!

Chick Laser Gun:

There aren’t any differences compared to the current one, with that, we end this year, it had many updates and slowly adding the long-waited CHL, will the Early Access finally end next year?

When did the ‘Early Access’ phase ended?

It ended In 15th December 2022 at version 126.

Those who got early access medal they are lucky :grin:

I will say it although 2020 was bad for a lot of people but this time we couldn’t outside instead we stayed home this time innovated us to use technology (even if it way in bad way or in good way) some people learning designing and programming started their small projects well 2020 for CIU had a lot of changes and people communicate so ye 2020 played great role for CIU changes and development

To me, i can still rememeber sound effect of beam like eeeeeeow which power up :high_voltage:1 to :high_voltage:10
And with power up :high_voltage:20 sound effect like miinaaaoooo

I don’t remember when iA finally got rid of the looping sound bug. Major milestone for the game (and his own mental sanity I assume).
