It’s very hard to get, but not impossible. Left as-is.
The flash effect is only when they’re ‘killed’. If they disappear there’s no effect.
All of the backgrounds I’ve made were “happy accidents” – I don’t have the required artistic skill to aim towards a particular outcome.
Yes, that’s a side-effect of the keyboard changes in v.118.
I’ve completely reworked how the backgrounds are colorized, which should eliminate these problems . Changed in v.119

This is an artifact of not running the game on its full resolution 1920x1080. Can’t fix.

This is caused because “CIU Default Background” is part of your preset.
Fixed in v.118 Bug
Fixing this will require applying v.118.2 emergency patch server-side. There will be a brief 5-minute downtime. All Mission Config presets will be reset. Everything else will be preserved (including your in-progress missions).
