Boss Idea #10: 🏴‍☠️ Cluck Sparrow!

Little Foreword:
Well… gifs are acting unstable in my recent topics so I decided to use video entirely for illustrating. Videos are much more dependable, they’re also accessible for everyone too and the quality of illustrations is relatively assured, although they might take away a fraction of second to click (Sorry for the inconvenience ).

Also this idea is pretty inspired by Captain Featherbeard by youraveragegrant too. (Yeah I love his boss ideas)

Alright now let’s begin!

Here’s the boss design concept with the boat only used in the final attack. For people who are curious, the object behind the flag is a cannon.

This boss has the same amount of health like most bosses in the game. His attacks are averagely harder to dodge, but the delay between them it’s decently long, enough time for you to counterattack. Here’re his offensive moves at 100% difficulty.

1) Sword Thrust

The boss will stand near the left / right side of the screen, then use its sword to thrust toward player position. Its attack direction is always horizontal, so if you are not stay at the place where the sword aimed straight at, it will either move up or down to adjust its position. It’ll do this four times (the video only so two).

2) Sword Swing

The boss will use its sword, move at the top corner then swing down to launch shock waves at the opposite side of the screen. After that, it’ll move down then do this again, meaning that it’ll swing 2 times while staying at one side. Then it will slowly move to other side to reattack.

3) Boat Surfing

The boss will go out of the screen, then ride a boat travelling toward the opposite side, while launching four cannon balls which will go up then falling down faster.

Trivia:

It actually has a hyper blunderbuss but I don’t know how to use it. Two sword attacks are already dominate the battle.

So I’m going to end my idea here. What do you think about this?

  • Neutral
  • Some attacks are too fast
  • Boss is (somewhat) underpowered
  • Narrow place to dodge attacks.

I really like the idea of new bosses and I’ve always had this idea in my head and I’m glad you implemented it.

It’d be lovely to see it during summer edition this year but I think iA had a work in progress boss that was supposed to come out last year but didn’t make it due to the episodes.

I fully support this idea not only because of the great amount of quality, but also because I already have the perfect name for its translation in my language; “Capitan Cotoletta”.

Cheesy names aside, I think CI would really benefit for more complex boss with multiple attack patterns, rather than just one or two. Most bosses are just boring, and the ones where you can grind are even worse. The Henterprise is the only boss I can think who is this complex, but not very dynamic. This would be much more engaging, so I not only hope it gets added to CIU, but also for a possible CI6, if that ever happens. Maybe alongside a ninja chicken would make for a great duo, like the CI5 one. But eitherway, really great idea and props for the deteiled mock-ups and descriptions.

Edit: I just remembered of Thundercluck, which is almost as complex, dynamic and engaging as this one, and that’s another chicken with an outfit and theme, so if he did made it, so can this one.

Thanks so much for the kind word!! : D

Honestly I wanna see more bosses in the future like Thundercluck or Dr Beaker, it would diversify player’s skillset while learning & dodging multiple offensive moves. :>

Well i don’t like being compared like this :<. His idea may have flaws, and mine too, but he is daring enough to try to create such ideas like this with his enormous efforts. That why he inspired me.
