What about making them customizable all the time? I mean you don’t have to buy a weapon to reskin it, just reskin it and apply it and see that skin for that weapon no matter it’s purchased or not.
Also, there would be options to select up to 3 slots to customize or randomize between them.
If this is possible but would be great to make other players weapons be visible in multiplayer games.
Also, for a place for the hud, I suggest to make the “Customize” option contain it with ships + color themes, I think color/user theme will fit there too as it’s customizable.
Also, can this suggestion be implemented?
Update:
This happens if every skin is in seperate images, my plan is to make 1 to 2 sprites/layers per weapon, and these 2 layers get recolored. This technique is enough to almost remake 42 skins!
For the other skins, it’s possible to turn them into “variations” like hardpoints, so we get variations for (e.g. Absolver Beam Wave Form, Space Angel, On the cob. Classic Neutron)
And for variations, would be better if there are sfxs per variations. Similar to how it’s in the mods.
This even allows mix with variations + colors, the only stuff which may not be in the game (for how complicated the design to remake, Space Police, Glitter Blaster)
The bad side of this technique is that it requires iA to recolor the weapons in-game engine, but it doesn’t stop it from being added
