Iā€™ll be honest - my recent criticism of Plasma was under the assumption that way more people are using it.

General question for ā€œProā€ players (in other words, not me - the leaderboard-topping, Ironman-flying people, examples being @Francis, @OneWingLunarian, @SA-GoldenBoss128, @Sammarald, and others):
What weapons are you actually using competetively, and why?

For me I just collect every weapon gift & atom at Dailies+Weekly, use only Positron at Space Race, at Ironman I donā€™t use weak weapons like Corn, Boron Railgun because when I used those they kill less enemies+increase the chance of my dying, and I donā€™t play Anniversary.

Positron seems good thanks to auto-lock, high firerate and dps thanks to splits
Though during competitions i tend to pick up everything but absolver and corn sometimes

I sometimes use Bullet Spray Expander at Space Race too.

Plasma, Positron and Absolver are the best weapons in my opin-ion. Laser is good for bosses. On Weekly youā€™d better collect them all, including corn.

So generally, itā€™s more valuable to collect gifts for points than it is to rely on a specific weapon?

Because, as I said a far while ago, thatā€™s actually more than what I was expecting when it comes to ā€œbalancedā€ weapons. That actually puts a lot of my concerns to rest regarding weapon choice, and balancing in general. I think itā€™s safe to say that Galbatorix, in the end, was pretty successful. :wink:

Also glad that Absolver is still divisively controversial and the bane of all things resembling consensus, just as it ought to be.

Yeah because of every gift worths 16k points+atomsā€™ points increase the more you collect them.

I though the ā€œEither brave or stupidā€ medal would be worth it at Conet Chase now that Mysterious Ship is a potential boss there, but still, no even if it worths now 50k points. Whoever is relying on mission medal to get more points is making a big mistake.

I wasnā€™t really relying on mission medals, but I was under the false assumption that sticking to a weapon was of greater points value than changing to one that would potentially score less points.

Well, I was, I want to make sure nobody else fall in that trap.

I was too until BoggY advised me.

Yes, although there are some waves where youā€™ll have to have Plasma/Positron, or even Ion (asteroids)

Pretty sure we have more important fish to fry, but can lightning fryer be buffed again?
The current DPS is pretty mediocre and worse still, the two bolts from :zap:6-10 on fighters diverge pretty considerably, making it significantly worse at killing one single enemy. Sure the main purpose of this weapon is crowd control, but even at that, its utility is rather questionable.

First of all, the two bolts should have a narrower spread, not as narrow as the dual bolts on the BX series, but still narrower than the current dual bolt system, this could be achieved by changing the spawn point of the bolts from the rear pods to the front pods.

Secondly, it needs more damage. Iā€™m not very experienced with exact damage values so it might not be very smooth or balanced. I have noted the overreliance on the bolts for DPS instead of the base DPS which is very poor. In waves where there is unlimited time and lots of weak chickens, lightning does a pretty good job, but with a few very tanky breeds like balloon chickens, it is inadequate. Its lower power levels are disproportionately underpowered. It also doesnā€™t do particularly well against asteroids.
So I buffed the lower levels quite a bit, and left the max power lightningā€™s volley untouched since I do think max power lightning is decent enough.
A slightly higher firerate wouldnā€™t hurt either, not as fast as positron of course but faster than the current firerate.

Indeed. You overbuffed low power, reduced the max power damage increase below 20% and significantly nerfed its boss DPS. Iā€™d hardly call that an improvement.
Iā€™d really appreciate if you at least waited until itā€™s time for weapon changes. Just because weā€™re testing stuff right now, doesnā€™t mean we donā€™t have other things to take care of first (and we havenā€™t even reached a consensus on everything yet).

Feel free to revise it, but also wait until weā€™re done with everything else. I donā€™t want more back-and-forth changes like with Vulcan and Utensil.
