Hardcore mode (Skill difficulty)

I feel like sometimes the game doesn’t feel hard enough. It sometimes needs a little extra spice, and a little more challenge in it. So that’s why I’m introducing and without mentioning Ironman

Drum roll, please!

HARDCORE MODE

What and How would it work? Glad you asked curious user!
Now Hardcore mode is basically a NEW skill difficulty that adds even more of a challenge to the game! Here’s what it would look like in the shop

All of this was hand drawn by me, please I worked very hard on this:pleading_face:

Here’s what Hardcore difficulty’s stat bonuses would look like (The price is just Virtuoso and Superstar Hero combined, btw)

  1. +50% Mission difficulty
  2. +45% Faster projectiles
  3. +350% Scoring
  4. +20% Chicken health
  5. +50% Boss health
  6. -10% All weapon damage (Damage reduction for certain weapons from bosses also increased)
  7. Massively improved key drop rate

Why I think this would be a great addition

Now, for some people the game gets pretty boring, when you know every wave, know what to do and what weapon to use for every boss, know how every chicken works (That’s basically me), so Hardcore skill difficulty is here to aim to resolve that problem

Now, since of this difficulty’s extreme danger in it, you can only use it in multiplayer if another player has Hardcore skill difficulty equipped, then they can join you!

Some extra art I did of Hardcore

If difficulties had faces, this is what Hardcore would look like

Again hand drawn by me, I cooked on this and I know it

And that’s pretty much it for this topic! I’ve been dreaming of having new difficulties even in the singleplayer games like CI4 and 5, which it would honestly work better there

Little extra’s that didn’t make the cut

For all of the spacecraft’s you could equip more satellites. You can only get them in-game and can’t equip them from the menu (2 for certain ships (VF-76, BX-9 Mjolnier, M408 Cusinier, etc.) or only 1 extra)

Hardcore difficulty would scale based on how many players there are in-game. For each players everything would scale by 5% (plus and minus included). Won’t affect key drop rate, like how it’'s always been with the rest

Lobbies with the Hardcore skill would be restricted to you, unless you also have Hardcore skill equipped. It would have the same red text message pop up when you can’t join a game, because you’re not in someone’s contact list

Which would you prefer? Custom icon or scaling speedometer looking thingy instead?

That’s all for today, no credits, because I came up with the idea myself

Thank you for reading!

Overall: Idea seems fine, but needs some tweaks…

  • I prefer this difficulity meter fully requires “Chicken Hunter License” due to how dangerous the missions might become. (Similar to how Ironman Comp needs you to have it before playing)
  • Keep the base damage, it’s already rough to kill enemies with increased health.

Check again, I just fixed the issue you saw in it. Just don’t mention Ironman, because I tell you so in the post now

looks like Ironman?

Seems similar to Universal Grandmaster difficulty

In a way it is, but it’s not really that similar. Plus the stats aren’t the same

and apparently the solution to that is to make everything take 2 hours to kill? just stat changes and nothing else? yeah sure

changing multiple values essentially means boss hp will be 75% higher and chicken hp 33% higher than on ssh

I guess you do have a point here. And now that I think about it, yeah I kind of didn’t think it through. So I would remove damage nerf and remove hp buffs, but I would still keep the greater damage reduction from bosses. Everything else would stay the same. That’s how I would rewrite it a bit, but I’ll keep it as is for now
