Nah a middle is better so that the player will be able to have time to destroy some barriers before getting crushed.
also a safe zone for gladiator wave for people who will first time encouter is better. to avoid unoticable barriers.

The wave starts with the enermy appear from 2 both side and go on to crush you slowly. So you still can move around the screen expect 2 both side left/right
I suggested it in V107 and IA didnt say anything.
but the player’s direction won’t be automatically changed because there are 2 anomalies facing left and right located in the middle, a safe zone on left and right side would confuse the player to go get the anomaly or stay in the safe zone. that’s why a safe zone in the middle is better.
Some suggestions can slide from IA’s eyes. so nothing prevents you from resuggesting it.

IA just decided it was unnecessary.
So if @Baron and @PlasmaX want to make sure newbie player not dying because of being maked suprise by “The Trash Compactor” wave, here i have just edited this picture. This will better and reasonable depend on where the enermies appear
So we all have our decisions, Lets see if IA desides to add a safe zonr or danger zone.
It wouldn’t be noticable by other players who first encounter this wave but ok.

Just stay at the edges. Like the upper left or upper right for example. (Between the dotted triangles that the laser guns make)
That’s still needs accuracy to dodge. Even for A BX user
I don’t mean in waves that change direction slowly (for example, onslaught and bullet spray wave from ci4), I meant in waves like (Single Digits, Zigzag, The Trash Compactor [its anomaly zones], etc) where the direction is changed only once. And if this is already suggested too, I wouldn’t mind.

could there Clean Sweep to “Feather Clumps” wave? Since enemies can escape.
I don’t think Clean Sweep is possible on that wave, because IIRC Feathers also count as enemies, and you can’t kill those.
why does the “Exclusion Zone” wave have a safe zone in the middle if it’s not a safe area
Because it moves you away from the screen edges, where enemies appear. Safe areas are only meant to help with initial positioning of your spacecraft for the start of the wave, and aren’t really valid after 1-2 seconds.
in “Effervescence”, the barriers at the bottom can be hard to notice down there
