I’m not sure if these kinds of levels are planned to feature in CIU, but I’ve got an idea for a level similar to the Comet Chase / Meteor storm: the Interspace Highway. The player would be travelling perpendicular to the flow of space traffic, autoscrolling towards all sorts of enemies and aliens travelling across the screen. It would have a frogger-like vibe, trying to slip through the gaps, or you take out enemies to make your own path. The enemies would be travelling just fast enough to scare you when they enter the screen, but still give you enough time to dodge if you notice them quickly. Maybe some waves would have tougher enemies, or enemies with barriers, to encourage players to slip through the gaps that are provided, while others would let players blast through if they had enough firepower.
