CIU version 149 BETA

the “CI1” text is slightly off-center/smaller than others

here’s a comparison:

since when did chickens in ci1 drop copper coins

Those were indeed present, but should have been removed by now.

I’ll add something to it… maybe a special training mission.

In the font used, 2 3 4 5 have the same width, but 1 is narrower… I’ve moved the 1 further apart. Changed in v.149.3 :medal_sports: Idea

Since there will have a period of time for buying and enhancing three upgradable items with highly cheap price in Hero Academy, i don’t think it’s useless

Have to agree with that decision. Why would you hide DLCs access in specific location. That’s ridiculous and inconvenient.

You can simply play other missions as usual. It’s not as though you’ll vanish if you don’t have the DLC.

hopefully some oldest versions ci1 it’s free but this dosen’t change matter cost newest versions.

It was someone else but it definitely was posted here somewhere.

in the text it’s sightly line space current version.

version 149 beta it’s bring back oldest in 147 text (bug).

When joining the game with a new guest account, clicking the “Skip” button to skip the introductory phrases jumps to the part where the “Fly [tutorial]” button is shown as designed. What doesn’t work as designed however is that the ambient music will fade into its intense version as if “Skip” were never pressed.

When trying to surrender the tutorial mission, the relevant dialog should use the new phrase regarding the tutorial being highly recommended, not just when canceling it.

When Quests got added, the buttons in its respective screen haven’t come with the “onClick” flash animation seen everywhere else. Now that all buttons have an “onClick” wobble animation, including the aforementioned ones, I feel that it’s more appropriate to remove this special case of them just wobbling but not also flashing.

  • I second this, add the flash animations to the quest buttons
  • I beg to differ, keep them unanimated

The following may be unrelated to this topic, but I figured I should repost this and hope you’ll address it, at least just for Episode 1.

While I’m at it, I’d like to mention a few more things related to the Episodes:

  • Originally, when I came to translating the “Fly mission” phrase to Hungarian, my first translation was so long as a button caption that the game had to squeeze it which I wanted to avoid, so I shortened one of the words. Then you released a BETA for Episode 5, and I noticed that there is more than enough space in the button to fit my first unshortened translated phrase as a label.
Having said this, I kindly ask you to add a separate “Fly mission” phrase to the Episodes because I think my current phrase translated specifically for CIU reads awkwardly there. Please do not give me a medal for this suggestion.

  • Please port the feature from CIU that downloads translations when switching between languages. I’d like to have it in the Episodes so that I can make the translation read better (especially text with line breaks and/or justified text) without having to wait for updates by making use of no-break spaces and word syllabification.

  • Speaking of no-break spaces, they don’t get properly justified, unlike regular spaces.
Here’s the current translation that mimics the ideal justification behavior, using multiple consecutive no-break space characters (including its narrow variant):

And here’s another one that uses up to 1 consecutive no-break space where I feel is appropriate for syllabified words:

Note how the words in the middle lines have inconsistent spacing in the second screenshot.
Do not give me a medal for this either.

v.148 introduced a text height bug, which v.149 fixes.

This also avoids the problematic dialog with “Cancel mission” and “Cancel” buttons.

Turns out that this was indeed a bug introduced in v.149. Fixed in v.149.3 :medal_sports: Bug

Not possible. Not only is supporting this very technical complex on its own, it’s made even worse by the fact that the Episodes are strictly off-line only, and hence have no connection to a central translation repository.

Added in v.149.3

Plase do not use non-breaking spaces for formatting. Only use them to prevent a line-break from ocurring between two words. Do not use manual hyphenation either. It will just break if the dialog is resized or if the typeface changes in the future.

Big chicken in CI1 DLC is not available for summer, christmas season yet.

So what you’re saying is you’re completely fine even with these large spacing between these tick icons and the actual text as shown in the image below. Please say I got the wrong idea right now.

it still is a weird place for that.
Screenshots specially should go somewhere to user folder.

I was planning to ask how are you going to handle the DLC which can be disabled on Steam, but not only do I can not find this option in the redesigned steam UI, you bundling them together will indeed make this discussion unnecessary.

So would be possible to have another standalone beta to check if everything is okay with translations?

I’ve seen some people complain about the Heroes Academy being almost obsolete after the removal of the “Invasion Anniversary” which was dedicated to CI1’s 120th (20th) anniversary. So I’ve been (not) cooking for a few hours and this is what I have to propose. I call it (them) Sentiment Missions:

don’t mind chiken

Anyway, upon clicking it, you will be directed to what you’ll see below (not really, it’s much bigger than this, I’m showing you just a small part if it, if I were to post the full version you wouldn’t be able to see a thing because it’s around 9000x300)

Remove the dotted lines and names and most of the glowing dots, clicking on one of the dots present would result in a “Fly mission” button appearing, clicking on it would take you to the chapter of where that dot is located (for example, like in the picture, it would direct you to chapter 4) and you’ll be able to play that chapter, completely for free.

This is what the full version would look like, it’s the maps of all the CI games besides CI1 into one, it will of course be much larger in game:

- Selecting what chapters to play for each episode (others not mentioned will be locked and unplayable)

CI2: 3,9,11

CI3: 3,8,11,12

CI4: 4,7,10,12

CI5: 4,6,8,12

- Loadout used for chapters:

5 lives, 0fp default weapon, 3 missiles, barbequer.

- Summary for non-nerds:

This is basically a free trial for most of the episodes, but you’re limited to a third or a fourth of that episode to play.

- Some notes:

  • Chapters can only be played once a month.

  • There will be no leaderboards, unlike the DLCs.

  • Points, food and keys gained will not count to your career.

  • Chapters will not appear in your “Recent” tab in “Missions”.

  • If IA decides to change the chapters that are playable, the final chapter should be kept.
