CIU version 149 BETA

MAIN CHANGES

Episodic DLC is here! Almost.

DLC requires downloading extra data files, and this is the main purpose of this BETA. Namely, to ensure that optional downloads work correctly, reliably, and hopefully quickly (please report back on your download speeds; you can check them by going to Options → DLC downloads).

To faciliate this testing, purchases do work normally in this BETA. Simply purchase any item (keys, CHL, or DLC) and it will automatically be given to you.

Use the “DLC” button on the main galaxy screen to access/play your DLC.

You can skip/warp around waves: Press SHIFT+keys 0-9, -, = to set chapter (from 1 to 12), or press 0-9 keys to set wave in chapter (from 1 to 10).

 Download the BETA from: https://universe.chickeninvaders.com/files/CIU_BETA_v149_5_0.zip

You can link your existing account that you normally use. Progress on the BETA server is completely separate from the LIVE server. It’s based on a database snapshot when the previous version was released, so your progress will be rolled back slightly (when compared to your live account). And, when the new version is officially released, any progress you made on the BETA server will be lost. Also, any translation changes will also be lost.

Multiplayer games will work, however note that your network connectivity will not be correctly detected by the BETA server (I think it will always say “Port-restricted cone NAT”). If there is a discrepancy between detection and your actual NAT type, then you will not be able to join some multiplayer games (even if they are listed). If the discrepancy lies on the host side, then none of the guests will be able to connect.

Every WAD file has an associated contents.txt file that probably reveals a lot of sensitive info

Why can’t i see anything in this screen? Do I have to delete and redownload it here?

episode 1’s first cutscene is not available it seems

buying dlcs works and downloading speed is okay

That’s intentional. try log in then purchase an episode dlc and it will download the assets to you before doing it.

Ah, packaging error. Will fix.

Have you purchased any DLC yet? If not, then it’s normal to not see anything.

Fixed in v.149.2 :medal_sports: Bug

In that case there should at least be some text like “You don’t have any DLC on this device.” so that it’s not confusing

Glow on hover caused some texts to be unreadable (here’s an example)

The other one made the text be slightly opaque.

When on click then hover, caused the texture inside completely black:

I’m getting a game crash upon surrendering in episode 2

Didn’t seem to get any crash for me

The council have collectively agreed on the fact that the “DLC” red label looks horrible.

As far as I can tell, the downloaded DLCs land in ProgramData. Would be nice if it was possible to change the download location, it’s quite annoying when games forcefully pollute the system drive and the game is elsewhere.

ci1 uses the invasion anniversary’s icon

It already ion, so why trying to change it again?

For some reason the episode 1 dlc is exactly the same as the old anniversary mission, except for the font. I think it should be the same as CIep1 with its changes brought over

also got this to happen

I’m curious to ask but there will be an tier requirement to access the dlc section?

sometimes newcomers can be annoying if they wanted to try an episode too early in new accounts after they purchased it and have not played an half of the game to know how it works.

for example:
you buy ci3 in steam or iA’s website (or another way not recommend), and you try it on the first time, yes you could play
or more example that people buy dlc in ciu for only play ci3 or other episode without playing other mission in planets. SO you just limit them to play the dlc.
