CIU version 148 BETA

MAIN CHANGES

:warning: You might not be able to log in for a couple of hours due to DNS propagation. Add -connectToBalancer 79.129.178.143 to your shortcut to play right now.

A lot of behind-the-scenes clean-up, refactoring, and unification with the Episodes.

Customizable scratches have been added to paintjobs. Please ensure that your existing paintjobs have been upgraded properly (they will default to the first scratch texture), and also test out the new “copy existing paintjob” and “randomize paintjob” feature.

Note that in this BETA, CI2U, CI3U, CI4U and CI5U are still available to catch any bug regressions.

You can skip/warp around waves: Press SHIFT+keys 0-9, -, = to set chapter (from 1 to 12), or press 0-9 keys to set wave in chapter (from 1 to 10).

 Download the BETA from: https://universe.chickeninvaders.com/files/CIU_BETA_v148_3_0.zip

You can link your existing account that you normally use. Progress on the BETA server is completely separate from the LIVE server. It’s based on a database snapshot when the previous version was released, so your progress will be rolled back slightly (when compared to your live account). And, when the new version is officially released, any progress you made on the BETA server will be lost. Also, any translation changes will also be lost.

Multiplayer games will work, however note that your network connectivity will not be correctly detected by the BETA server (I think it will always say “Port-restricted cone NAT”). If there is a discrepancy between detection and your actual NAT type, then you will not be able to join some multiplayer games (even if they are listed). If the discrepancy lies on the host side, then none of the guests will be able to connect.

game is unstable

I had it crash once by entering all-time best, once when starting CI4U

it seems to be related to ram (maybe a memory leak?) it loads 1 gb of ram just on the menu, and opening a few things like stats or missions kills it

i think the game loads too much stuff for a 32-bit application

the font got not very synchronizing

:astonished:

Mine says 170MB fully loaded at menu, 350MB on galaxy after logging in.

Although textures are clearly not counted in that total… Do you have a discrete GPU?

i have a discrete gpu and on galaxy i get around this many

seems like it only happens when the game runs on my integrated GPU, not the dedicated one, RAM is normal there

Which integrated GPU model do you have, exactly? I can’t make sense of those numbers

Follow the instructions here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000056018/processors.html

If you know your exact CPU model, then that works, too.

can’t find anything more specific regarding the GPU

also found out the previous version (CIU v147) behaves similarly but it loads less (800 mb on the menu)

all intergraded gpu of intel still showing as this

As far as I can tell, it’s a Intel® UHD Graphics 730 . Regardless, the problem is that the GPU driver is using shared memory to store textures, and it’s actually taking it from the address space of the game (which is 2GB total), not leaving enough memory for the rest.

It might be time to move on to a 64-bit build. Let me dig up some information about the 32-bit desktop market share.

Makes sense. There were several new textures added in v.148 (scratches and also some new paintjobs)

cursed

since when was the font changed, my eyes

:

purple black hole with red background

same thing on my end

Honestly, Scratches should be as default without any scratches only (no use scratches)

To be fair CIU always had weird RAM usage reportings. At least in my case. Do you remember?
