I’m aware of that but I want to make stuff myself and also test the new version array modifier which makes creating gears shapes way easier and Egg Cannon has many shapes made that way.
I also consider making henterprise, what worried me is the text but turns out it just uses Teko.
Here’s a comparison between a basic remake vs the original:
There’s nothing to ad on these models, I think they were pretty fun to model. However there’s something about the roasted chicken model, drumsticks placement aren’t symmetrical, not sure why but if you turned around the model to see how off they are.
For the burger, I just wanted to only make the unique pieces (except for bread). This is what I’ve done. Egg Cannon is still in progress however, the other “villians” may be modeled too, but which one do you want to be modeled next?
All what this model has is just all what CI4 version of Mother Hen Ship has. It was easy model except for 2 parts:
I struggled with making the net, I was about to give up in it but I got the idea of making it using a low poly version with wireframe modifier and here we go.
Splats weren’t easy to make, and after editing it bunch of times, this is the best I could do.
But still, I want to note:
The model originally was supposed to have support for chips pieces but as that ruined “the topology”, you can still make it yourself by using the Knife tool/K in Edit mode.
And this is it, but what about the yolk star, well, it’s still in progress.
I’m currently stuck at making points spread across the center area. The easiest (and messiest) solution I could find is repeatedly copying and pasting the point/light source.
And so far, this is one of thee most complicated models I ever made. It has way more details than i thought, the pipes have detailed, the laser points have details. The top have details. Everything has details.
One of the reasons why I made this model is because of one single feature. Array (The new version), Wait, new version?
Yes older versions of Blender, yes had Array but was a basic line, the version I use has a circle version which made modeling most parts easy, fast. There are still parts I struggled with like pipes, top area. “wheels” pre center.
Of course no one answered. So I had to cheat it, I basically used volume + manually placed points. But wait, how the blue glow is done?
Unfortunately, it’s done outside of Blender by making a separate layer and fully color it dark blue. I’m aware it’s possible to use Compositor but I didn’t use it that much. So far most issues are about lighting, effects. but what about the model itself?
The only issue I had is modelling the laser gun itself. I was easy but modeling it specifically when it was arrayed on eggshell was hard as I couldn’t change views that easily, but after all, we’re done with it. We can even change some stuff and do this:
So, I’ve told you before that I wanted to rework the ships to have better appearance, I started the rework with copying the sun lighting setups across the ships and then decided..
While in the way let’s remake the engine model. And soon after (not actually soon because that time was filled with making new models) the new engine got modeled:
Yes, I remade the shine, but how? there’s a setup in shader nodes that basically makes an object have specific colors based on shineness, shadow. Which is used for making 2D shading styles in Blender.
What made this is hard is that I needed to make the lighting always face the center and yet be bright enough to make the shine visible.
Now what about Henterprise model?? Uh, It’s not ready yet but surely it will be the next target
That’s all I have to say for now. The zip has been updated as usual with all mentioned stuff.
While in the way, I want to mention what made this model a bit harder to do, many objects like light, text, paint are seperate objects on their own and not textures.
That’s so they can become easily editable in Blender but aligning them with the base model becomes hard. And that also makes bending the font a nightmare. Similar to my actual nightmares of remodelling Egg Cannon.
Also, yes the light/windows are now randomly light, similar to the original Henterprise. This is all what I have for now. The base is around 60% done, which all circular objects being done but needs some polish, exhausts, legs, extra details.
This really took too much. It actually started before the ship rework so Henterprise took around 3-5 days. It wasn’t expected to take that much time for a single model, but why it was hard?
Well. Let’s talk about each section first, let’s start with the base ship:
It’s circle with more details on top so alignment didn’t wasn’t straightforward, probably what made the model take that long.
Text is text. Not a texture so deforming it and making it lay on the surface wasn’t easy.
Lights were my favorite to work on, basically each light is a very simple plane with emission being random with a combination of array modifier of course.
Everything was straightforward later on, only the base ship was hard. The legs, engines turned to be leaning slightly away from each other.
So it ll started with font test to see how I would make outlined font for Space Burger. I like it the results so that I started working on CI2 Space Burgers first.
Actually none of these models took a while. They were really easy. So here are some views of them:
