Chicken Invaders Models Remake

And droid is done!

Well, at least the normal version only, the “elite” one isn’t done yet.. The main issue that the “box” is thinner than the bottom sphere so the sphere clips through… So I decided to delay it alongside space crab.

Now about the main droid had some issues, mainly the lights:

  • I couldn’t export the bottom lights from the scene so I have to add a black bg to the scene.
  • I couldn’t add lights to the eyes too as they would be too bright which isn’t the case in the original.
Here are more views if you're curious.

And that’s it for now.

nice pinanas :3

Without this his eyes look really strange

those side ears are slimmed not blocky but great effort

And The other droid is done!

I know, it doesn’t look good compared to the previous droid, what happened?

Explaination

It all starts with this.. The bottom area not aligning with the head:

So I got the idea of turning the bottom area into a shape key that fits only for this specific head, However this comes with the consequence that the lights won’t align..

Now you might ask, why I just didn’t stretch the head to align with the bottom sphere? This fixes all issues, right?

Yeah but it also makes the shape not accurate, this is how its side version should look like according to the ending cutscene in CI4.

And we’ll stick with version with only edited sphere.

And this is it for now. Also, I started on Space Crab. And I still need to make the lighting better…

its ITS niceeeeee :3
now im waiting for the crabb :3

And Space Crab is DONE!

Yes, that yellow spot is intentional as that’s how it looked like in the og version, it wasn’t green.
Anyway, I wanna go over the head, it’s made of glass, and what else uses glass?

Of course, it’s the UFO. copied stuff from there, tweaked them and boom we made the glass. The liquid is basically noise texture stitched into displacement.

The eyes were tricky to set up, I couldn’t make them shine properly + I faked the glow by adding points light sources.

Now we get into the hardest part of the model.

The Tentacles

In the game, the tentacles are parts connected and rotate normally without stretches, now how we’ll replicate that? With something called parenting!

Basically it’s selecting a few objects and then select the object we rotate with the last (in this case it’s the nail which connects the tentacles) And then Ctrl + P and make sure to keep transform. And that’s it.

if we wanna make one main nail which changes all the chain, we select the connectors, tentacles and the main nail connector last and, it’s done! I probably need to make a video version of this.

Because the model which will be downloaded won’t have the parent set ready, this is just to make customizing them easier, if you want them short/long, want to end with a hand or laser gun.

And now… the part you were waiting for…

it looks like a hd version of it

Quick Update

If you noticed, now the bottom arms are longer, why this change now? Especially after the model is released? This because… This is how it should look like in the game. Turns out I the reference I used has the arms shorten for some reason… (Yeah, now I call them arms)

And remember what I said about parenting above? It’s kinda useless now, as the arms now have almost the same length here and can be reused.

I see it’s the chance to make them parented properly. All what will be changed is the ending point either it will be hand or a laser.

And yeah, that’s it. Still didn’t begin on Space Crab v2 yet. It might not take that much.

OMG its ITS nice
now im waiting for Space Crab V2 :3

And Space Crab v2 is done!

Looks cool and everything as usual but there’s one simple question… why did you take 4 days just for a variation? It’s not that hard…

And you’re right. The reason why it took that long isn’t even related to modelling, at that time I wasn’t able to even open the laptop at the time. No matter how I do it doesn’t start up, I couldn’t find the issue myself so we went to some people to fix it.

And here is it after 4 days… But even after the fix… Blender is now slower slightly, it’s fortunately still usable and so here’s the last of what’s planned next to model:

  • Iron Chef
  • U.C.O
  • Space Burger 3, 4

And the next, will be from your suggestions. That’s it for now.

its nice
next Iron Chef :3

you could have uploaded this in the artworks topic, said it’s a drawing and it’d look convincing

it looks a hd to me but it looks scary too :skull:

New Models Decisions

So, as you know, Aftermarket, Heroware are basically stock models and iA bought their licenses:

image

The issue is that, these models aren’t free. But also they are only available for 3ds max which is the 3D software iA uses. And no it’s not Blender…

Now the question is.. Should I model Aftermarket, Heroware, even when that they’re purchasable models?

  • Of course! It’s a remake and not a 1:1 replica , it doesn’t harm.
  • You don’t have to model these, I’ll buy them myself for my fangame.
  • Dude.. It’s like you bought it and uploaded it for free..

Also, Iron Chef is almost ready.. My only issue now is in the arms…

I’m sure there would be copyright issues if you created an exact copy~
You can maybe contact them and tell that you can recreate them for Blender and you might get the permission?

That’s the reason why I posted the poll, but not sure if the color changes and these models being for “Chicken Invaders” change anything.

I wasn’t able to find any way to contact them. They probably went offline, Considering the last model they made was around 10 years ago…

And Our Iron Man Chef is done!

And the lighting isn’t accurate… I tried to recreate it and yet, this is what I got… Also speaking about the bulb on the side..This one is added manually after rendering… However this model is looking pretty good.

There were some issues I had for example the inside of the mouth is basically a black circle covering what’s inside. Another thing was the arms. You clearly see how they’re not accurate. That’s because..

The original arms have a thick area in the middle of it and the tips are thin. I basically couldn’t recreate that, either all thin or thick…

I want to note something is that the head was rotated downwards the whole time. At least we have an advantage in making these models:
