About the forum (not a tirade)

This topic will suggest ideas/tweaks for the forum, bring some old ideas, talk about some discourse plug-ins, and at last a few questions from you (iA).

NOTE: This topic is meant to be written for iA so if I ever wrote ‘you’, it means I’m talking to iA.

Dev Team :man_office_worker:

It’s a rank like “Regular – TL3” which will only be given to the people actually involved in giving ideas and reporting bugs.

How will it work?

Let’s say John, Paul, and Zack have the Dev Team rank, and there are topics “Suggest Ideas” and “Report Bugs.”

Now John, Paul, and Zack are the main “head” of the topic. Any idea or bug will be discussed, and if it deserved, will be sent into the actual “Ideas & Bugs” topics.

Just as TL3 unlocks the new category; Lounge, the Dev Team rank would unlock a new category (haven’t thought of a name for it). This category would only be accessible to iA and the Dev Team (maybe Regulars too, but I’m not sure).

Why should it exist?

Simple: Reduce the amount of off-topic posts.

Let’s go deeper into this:
Topics like “CIU version 1.xx” and “CIU Steam Collection” contains ideas and bugs but also contains opinions and unwanted posts.

Here are some examples:

When you crashed the CIU server
When I asked for change in a wave

It was there intentionally as Pinanas said:

But what wasn’t important were these messages :wilted_flower:

(you definately don’t want to read off-topics ranting)

BLASTGAMMINGX, ZABIULLAH, and Windows XP

John, Paul, and Zack (our Dev Team) would simply discuss the ideas, test the bugs, then report them to iA. (of-course with the name of the person who suggested it)

Advantage?

Reduces iA’s time consumption so he doesn’t have to read off-topic posts. It will definitely help iA.

Who should be in the Dev Team?

I read many “Ideas and Bugs” topics… and sorted out a few users.

  • Pinanas
  • Callum (me hehe)
  • Plasma X
  • Dark Skembesion
  • Sammarald
  • DePeeper
  • Knightcap

iA himself could also choose, while you all can also keep finding bugs and ideas to join the Dev Team!

Requirements (un-necessary but necessary in a way)

  • More than 5 days of reading
  • Have read the “Known Bugs & Features” topic coughs
  • Solved at least 1 topic
  • Posted at least 1 topic with the “Idea” category
  • Posted at least 1 bug which has been accepted

Server Emojis :squinting_face_with_tongue:

I shall ask, “why not?”

(I didn’t quoted all, there are more of them)

CIU’s Version Listing :memo:

already been suggested before
Version listing of CIU should be changed! How long would version number go?
CIU v1.346 Advance Preview?

Of course, iA is too busy to change names of older version topics’ names, so as a “Regular TL3”, I take the responsibility. But there’s a problem!

Ability of Regulars – TL3 to re-categorise the topic :pencil:

Its important because, well I stated above, also because some ‘new’ users make topics on a random category. Doesn’t need any examples, just see topics under ‘Site Feedback’ category.

Also even you said it!

“Other Games” Category :satellite:

Posted by @Pinanas

Theres even a poll in the topic with 78% people voting towards adding it!

A report related to Forum :sad_but_relieved_face:

An account with Regular rank had been affected with “anon virus” (simply banned), but he still has the rank.
I know according to TL3 requirements, this rank would be removed, but it still looks weird.

Discourse Plug-ins :electric_plug:

Here I posted some plug-ins that I have personally viewed and I think are great for the CIU Forum. Click the name of plug-in to see original post by discourse and how to install it.

Discourse Cakeday

Adds a little cake emoji next to the User on their day of joining the forum (can also be changed to show on their actual birthday). This is how it looks:

Who’s online?

Shows who is currently online on the forum

Also shows on profile

Question Time :speech_balloon:

I have three questions for you (iA), hope so you answer them <3
I planned a QnA with iA but hes too busy

Question 1

How are reports received / handled when a player reports from in-game?

Question 2

Imagine a person being bullied on CIU forum for his skills or not having a CHL, how should he / she react?

DM you?
Make topics to cry there?
Leave CIU and its forum?

Question 3

I still wonder why the name of this topic was changed from “:clipboard: Poll of the day” to “Poll of the day.”

Welp, that’s the end of this topic.
Let me know about these ideas, and if you want a change in them.

Thanks for reading <3

For @InterAction_studios

I understand you are locked-in to complete the playtest before 2027 and are lesser active on the forum, which almost makes the community feel that you are no longer making new ideas or waves into CIU.

This demotivates all users, many of them saying CIU is dead.

A request, can you at least “like” this post?
I know you are still busy now and won’t reply that fast, but to keep us motivated, and to let us know that you read our posts… a like please?

So that’s why he didn’t answer my 3 days old DM, I’ve also tried to answer these questions myself based on what I know.

iA receives the reports and review them manually and decide ban either the reporter (if the report was false) or the reported player if they actually did what’s described.

Not sure what you mean exactly, if you mean someone is told that their ideas are bad or “you should leave the forum”, I’d would just ignore those people who say that.

Neither I know the reason, probably as emojis in topic title ruin something or make it look like it’s from iA himself but I’m not sure if that’s the case.

Well there are some problems that I faced in the forum and it should be fixed

lowkey
But its important because I’m the one who made the topic, so I should also be in the group to see if everything is going right.

Can you tell them pls?

The Discourse Gamification Plugin + The API Bridge

The combination of the Discourse Gamification Plugin and an API Bridge allows us to connect the forum to any app (here CIU).

Gamification Plugin is used to save score and leaderboards in the forum while an API Bridge acts as the data translator connecting Discourse to the outside world. This means, using both of these, iA can make a topic where all of the reports would be saved to later discuss it.

FUN FACT: It has enough power to make live CIU’s “All-time best” leaderboard into the Forum.

Your own past post is the solution for this (great job)

uh.. Cyber-bullying using CIU forum?

I think so it is, because chatting place do have “:left_speech_bubble:” emoji.

trying my best to reduce workload for iA

Ok.

There is another problem that should be fixed is that when I text ia to open two topics then ia responded but they didn’t open my two topics

That is most probably an error by discourse itself, iA can’t do anything in it.
