What spacecraft build should i get as a beginner?

Sorry for asking the same thing as I did a year ago, but I took a long break in the game and really need to know what spacecraft should I get now. I also know about nothing about reactors, satellites, heat sinks and engines. Previously, I considered getting a M404 Deliverer, but now I recently also considered the bombers, although I hate the slow effect. I currently have about 3k keys. Let me know any suggestions

I used the lightest VK slim build for a long time and only recently changed to the clunkier heaviest VK build (but may go back to the slim despite selling it and losing the hardpoints, as I am used to being able to dodge bosses and the Hamburger boss is hard with a thick ship).

What’s a VK build? And what ship do you use? Sorry, but as I said I’m new and haven’t played in a while

It’s a line of ships called the VKs. I haven’t played in a while either, but this is what I’ve used since 2023 and what I used most recently.

Do you mean VF? Barely anyone uses them because of their low FP cap and the environmental protection doesn’t help much if you know how to tackle the mission as a whole.

Almost everyone uses the BX series as it provides the highest FP of the whole game fleet. Muellers also have no FP cap, but some opt for those, due to their higher mobility.

In the end, it usually comes down to a BX-9 or a Mueller M404.

I don’t know what FP is but yes I use VFs, sorry, I confuse them with VKs from another game.
I’m not interested in a powerful ship, I prefer maneouverability and the VFs are slim, pointy (good for precision shots, with or without the hardpoint guides), and look sleek in a lobby of many players so I can tell which ship is mine fast. I also struggle with environments so the resistance is useful. I was using the default Henpeck in 2022 and it was not great.

*Hatchling, not Henpeck.

Is FP firepower? If you mean to say there’s a quicker reach to the ‘overheat’ then yes okay VF is bad. But I solve that with the overdrive quite easily. And balance the two out by timing it. For me dodging shots is most important. Not being quick to the draw. You can’t see enemy weapons when firing your own, it gets messy fast if you just spray and pray with spam shots.

Is M404 a good choice overall? I don’t have the licence so the BX-9 is very expensive for me right now. Also, is it really true that those ships don’t have a power cap, because the shop says 10 (+MAX) so what does that mean?

Yes.

That means there is no FP cap on the ship, so you can go beyond L30 FP and not be inhibited.

The issue remains that high firepower = not dying, and big ship = dying on some waves and especially some bosses. Too many narrow areas especially in comet missions.

So what does that 10 mean?

I think it’s the base number of power items you can grab and upgrade with. Add to it the ship’s maximum.

In game, you can collect many atomics / firepowers you want. But there’s a problem.

Each type of spacecrafts possesses a different firepowers limit. The limit of three lighter types of spacecraft can be 8, 9, 10; Heavy Bomber like BX spacecraft has higher limit as it has 2 weapon pylons. (14, 16, 18)

Lemme give more details. Beside normal firepowers limit, some of these spacecraft types can reach one more level of firepower, like Muller, that why the shop say (10 (+MAX)), meaning that beside 10 firepowers limit, you have to collect more 10 atoms to reach this level. If you collect 10+10 firepowers / atomic while you are playing M404, there will be a small “+” symbol appear at the bottom right corner of the :zap: symbol, indicating that you finally reach the maximum power of lighter spacecrafts.

Look at this weapon for an example.

H&C 101 has fp limit as 8, so after you collect 8 firepowers (:zap:8), you’ll reach level 8. Collecting more the indicator will say as 8 + 1, meaning that you can’t reach level 9 ( :zap:9).

H&C 201 has fp limit as 9, so after you collect 9 firepowers (:zap:9), you’ll reach level 9. Collecting more the indicator will say as 9 + 1, meaning that you can’t reach level 10 ( :zap:10).

H&C 301 has fp limit as 10, so after you collect 10 firepowers (:zap:10), you’ll reach level 10. Collecting more the indicator will say as 10 + 1, this will still remain at level 10.

But for Muller Spacecraft (such as M404), the shop write out 10 (+MAX). The (+MAX) show that you can reach level 11, the thing that H&C 301 can’t do because the shop only write 10. When you wield M404 and already collected :zap:10, you have to collect more 10 firepowers to reach level 11. (10 + 10)

BX has (+MAX) too, like Muller, but with different weapon mechanic as well as higher firepowers limit, if you play this game for a long time, you’ll realize and understand how this weapon mechanic go.

One thing that separates the 404 from the 408 is it’s frontal satellite location.

heavy bombers are a bit… heavy so they are harder to control and might feel unresponsive, so gotta choose carefully

Heavy and slow, but BXs are compensated with much higher damage; the slow effect somewhat give you stability which can slightly enhance your accuracy.

I could consider some unlicensed bombers or the M404. Which one is better?

Well that may depend on how you play. If you like being a careful pilot, M404 fit. But for a more destructive power, BX - 7. Somewhat BX - 7 is easier to collect much food, but less resistance to risk of losing life because of its large hitbox. M404 is easier to collect falling keys.
