totally a noob thing for me to ask but what do the different parts (loadout) of a ship do?
Weapons and Satellites are already obvious but what about the:
Heat Sink
Reactor
Engine
Hardpoints
Heat Sink - increase heat capacity (Longer until you overheat)
Reactor - gives the ship more power so you can equip higher tier items from other categories
Engine - decrease fuel travel cost
Hardpoints - miscallenious, usually cosmetic effects

Does the engine also increases your flight speed while in missions
No, the only items that increase your spacecraft’s speed are the perishables Maneuvering Jets. You must buy them every time you want to use them though, just like missiles.

Not “just like missiles”.
Missiles get used whenever you decide to use one(as with any other superweapon), while jets last throughout one entire mission and automatically disappear in the end(as with other perishables).
