This idea popped up in my mind so fast that I have to prepare a topic for this immediately before I lose any temporary motivation.
So this weapon will belong to Metal Group like Boron Railgun, but it’s literally Ion Blaster cousin (just with some difference) by having the same property - wide bombardment with barrage of projectiles.
Raidergun lets player fire “untight” arcs of multiple blazing metal pellets traveling at a noticeably fast speed. This weapon has only one type of projectile.
The projectile has a speed much faster than that of Ion Blaster’s projectile; it could be able to be competitive against Vulcan Chaingun’s. In addition, higher firerate is another advantage of this weapon too.
As I say above, this’s another area coverage weapon with a larger cone angle than that of Ion Blaster. Here’s how a volley looks like (the white lines are the paths of the projectiles):
At 20th power level, this weapon has total 15 projectiles, split in 5 groups of 3, travel in distinct directions like the image above. This is why I mentioned that the arc is “untight”, and yes, formation like this can occasionally act as a problem.
Having a much larger cone angle, but the damage distribution (damage concentration) is less balanced than Ion Blaster’s (since there’re several places in the arc where projectiles don’t go through). Also, because of focusing on only 5 positions, attacking various enemies in the screen sometimes might not be as effective as Ion Blaster or Corn Shotgun.
