Wave Idea - Chicken Snake


Without too much fambling around (and also sorry for the lazy edit, but I geniunly couldn’t be bothered to make this any better than it needed to), is just what the name and picture suggest; the classic game Snake as a wave in CIU.

The wave is simple; one or more snake formations of chickens appear from the sides of the screen and change direction constaantly in the attempt to bite you eventually, all the while avoiding touching the body of the snake, just like the original game. And just like the original, if the sanke goes to the sides of the screen it warps from the opposite side.

You can also change direction at whill using the four anomalies on the sides of the screen, to emulate the d-pad used in the classic game. Also, to emulate the snaks that occasionally appear in the original game to give you extra points, here bombs occasionally appear from the sides of the screen and stay in a specific point waiting to be hitted, making the process of destryoing the the chicken snake much easier.

The snake core mechanic can’t be fully emulated in CIU. In the original game, the snake starts small and eventually becomes larger as it its snaks. This is hard to replicate in CIU, so instead I designed it in the exact opposite way; the snake starts long, with a fixed dimension from the start, and your job is to make it smaller, until it remains nothing of it, and just like the opposite of the original game, bombs help you make it smaller, rather than larger.

So yeah, that’s pretty much it; simple and effective. The game already has waves that pay omage to various retro games like Space Invaders, Brakeout and Centipede, so one that pays omage to Snake would be extremely fitting. But let me know what you think, if the implementetion I thought out is perfect or it would need some refinments. Either way, hope this gets added within the next updates.
