I suggest the weapons that shoot bright projectiles should brighten the screen more. This include most of the weapons, except the metal (utensil poker, moron/boron railgun, riddler, microgun) and bio group (corn shotgun, bird-flu gun). What do you think?

It already brightens when you shoot it at some enemies or barriers, maybe also at nothing it will brighten the screen.
Well that might make the environment easier. but only weapon that I can say that it can fit to do this is absolver.
