Platformer Mode Concept

When playing the game, you’re always flying in the space, what if, we fought from the land, and no I don’t mean the planetary missions, I mean is you can move, jump.

Interesting… However this is just a concept only, similar to Playable Chickens Concept.

Controls

We’re gonna use WASD buttons for this. Trust me this is for good later.

A, D are for moving around. “Space” for jumping, “X”/Left Click on mouse fo Shooting, Moving mouse for aiming at the enemies.

And after jumping you can hold “Space” for slow landing with a jetpack.

Now what about food/gifts? They would still be obtained normally but with the weapons…

Weapons

Weapons will act like the normal weapons but they would rotate with the aiming:

But what about the Special Weapons?

Special Weapons

As said with the normal weapons, this time the special ones will be launched straight from the gun.

Bonus: New Enemy

What does this chicken is it justs runs on land all the time, it can also jump few times, that’s it.

If the ship crashes on planet during the wave then pilot will fight with the chicken with his weapon sounds cool

How would a mode like this be played with mouse only, as that is one of the CI’s premises? Touchpad would not be an issue as it’s just a virtual keyboard.

Edit: also needs to be playable via keyboard only as well.

Idk. That’s why I added keyboard controls from the first place.

I thought about making the aiming be changed with arrow buttons, this may work.

Today, I want to share a playable version of Platformer Mode because… why not?
This concept is really good, so let’s talk about the game!


Features :sparkles:

Includes:

  • 2 weapons: Ion Blaster and Neutron Gun
  • Each weapon has 3 firepower levels
  • Killing more chickens increases your firepower (and can change your weapon)
  • Kill counter (confusing code, but it was worth-it adding)
  • Different coloured chickens (they run with a complex code to choose colour from)

Does NOT include (from the original concept):

  • The original chicken sprite (code too complex)
  • Satellites / Special Weapons
  • “CIU” mouse
  • Slow landing with a jetpack while falling
  • Curved ground (straight ground only to prevent player glitching)

Controls :video_game:

  • A → Move left
  • D → Move right
  • SPACE → Jump
  • Left Click / X / Right Click → Fire

How to Play :joystick:

The game is made in Scratch (not .exe) and works on Windows / any desktop.

Does the guy in platformer mode have a health bar?

Not quite ‘Health’ but he does have 3 lives…

actually a health counter like CI games

Update 1.2

New Features

  • Added background music
  • Animation for all enemies
  • 6 new and unique enemies instead of a single one with different colours
  • Added enemy death sound
  • A ‘pop’ sound when a message appears
  • Changed background to original one used in concept
  • Added an enemy cap, enemies won’t spawn more than 4

Known Bugs and Features

  • If player’s lives end at a specific time when an enemy spawned, the enemy will still be alive and will disappear in a few seconds
  • The enemy cap rarely gets glitched, causing only 1 enemy to spawn at a time
  • Both rocks are meant to be on the layer above the player, but sometimes it gets opposite (layers work weirdly in scratch)
