This is common for popular games, I don’t see any harm for someone to make their own server. The original server doesn’t get weaker tho as it has one major feature:
Talking with iA whenever updates come.
There aren’t problems to escape from, people want to make their own stuff, even if they are already made, for example fangames. The game already exists but still want to make something similar, no issue with that.
The only thing I disagree about this topic is the category, however it doesn’t seem like a big deal.
This server isn’t just for CIU; all games are allowed here, and there aren’t any strict rules because everyone already knows the rules. It’s a limited group of players who just have fun together.

I had created my server to assemble my friends in one house. Also friends of my friends can join and the intention of creating a server is not like you have discussed. @Callum it’s ok, don’t worry.
