My problem with Victory Ratio

This isn’t a bug, obviously, but when I started playing, I used to not mount any extra lives, so my Victory Ratio basically got nuked. When I realised this, I was at around 30% Victory Ratio, so I decided I should use extra lives. After a month of almost never losing or surrendering, I’m at around 54%, which is still pretty bad. So, I think playing with no extra lives should have half the effect of a normal mission in terms of Victory Ratio.

Why bother not using extra lives then. A victorious/surrendered/lost mission go towards your victory ratio, no matter how many extra lives you brought

I didn’t know about Victory Ratio earlier, and I hadn’t been using extra lives because I thought it’s “cooler”.
I’m not saying all the already-played missions that I/others flew with no extra lives should have this be applied, but I do think it’s a good thing for it to take effect from this point onwards.

I told this way back in early access: extra lives should not be a thing you have to buy.

  • It’s punishing for new players (who die a lot and have yet to git gud)
  • Some missions can end up making players eraning less keys than the amount of lives lost, if you account that every death is worth 5 keys and that you must buy 10 of them each time
  • It’s annoying to buy them in bulk (personal opinion)
  • The game already has a lot of alternative economy sink options (insights, special weapons, fuel, auto use equipment, all the other perishables and customization)
  • The players end up learning the bad habit of not using them, Aws7 just proved this point in their last message
