It would be nice to be able to chat for a couple minutes with your fellow combatants if you so desire at the end of a multi player match…

That’s the problem. Once a mission is over, I’m not staying 10 minutes to chat with others.

Just pause the game after the final wave and before it exits. Then you’re free to chat for as long as you want until you resume and actually finish the game.

P/S: Keep in mind that you can only pause the game if you’re the host, or else you should quickly ask the host to pause and stay for a while.

That’s a very unreliable crutch. The problem with most games is that host can’t read nor listen, unless you’re operating the game via other services like discord, but discord also kills the need in chat almost completely.
