The game also crashes for me when trying to launch the multiplayer menu with this error message.
After some troubleshooting, I’ve found out that ports under 1024 require special permissions in Unix-based OSes. Go to Settings → Network and change UDP port to higher than 1024 to prevent the game from crashing.
