Boss Idea #7: 🔧 (Fire) Mechanicken

look more complicated than i thought…


Greeting, guys. I’m back with a brand new boss idea. Here’s the design:

This one looks like a mechanic, behind its back is a pair of steel wings attached with welding barrels. They brings the shape of a circle quadrant (1/4 of a circle).

At the 100% difficulty, its health is 250,000 like most bosses in the game. Here’s its attacks.


1) Targeting Fire Gears Throwing

The boss will stay in a half of the screen, then throw four gears spouting out four yellow fire around each, which increases the hitboxes of the gears. They’ll travel directly to player’s position.

2) Scramble Gears

Four heavier gears which spout out blue flame will be thrown at four edges of the screen, then they’ll travel either counterclockwise or clockwise. This type of gear is moderately bigger than the one in attack 1.

The gears scrambling on the edge of the screen will travel one full round from its starter point (where it’s thrown by the boss). While this happens, the boss will fly around and use one gear from the attack 1 to throw at the player, but the speed is a bit slower.

3) Wrench Throwing

The boss will stay at either left or right top corner, then travel to the other side while dropping five wrenchs.

4) Welding Lasers

In attack 4.1 the position the boss stays is nearly the same in the attack 3; while it’ll always stay at the top middle in attack 4.2. The welding lasers wings behind it is now taking action.

All attacks of the boss will be randomized, but they must be ensured that each attack can only be executed just after two unique / different attacks; but the attack 1 will always be the opening attack. For example: 1 → 3 (right → left) → 2 → 1 → 4.2 → 4.1 (left) → 3 (left → right) → 2 → 4.1 (right)…; there will be no 1 → 2 → 1; 4.1 → 3 → 4.1;…

So I’ll end my idea here. What do you think about this?

  • Neutral.
  • Too fast attacks.
  • Attack can’t be predictable.
  • Narrow place to dodge.
  • Boss’s too underpowered.

For comparison

Note: All attacks above are set at 100% or little higher difficulty.

So in terms of attacks it would be similar to the space crab (the old one), with the addition of the falling wrenches. Not a bad idea.

Hmm… I thought that the falling speed of the Wrenchs should be lower a bit.
