Probably a design choice.
The white line? It’s the trajectory the ship’s following as it travels, indicating where it will end up at
the lines in the box bro.

It’s the mesh self-overlapping when it curves too tightly.
It could probably be fixed, but (a) I don’t know enough about spline geometry to fix it ‘properly’ and (b) the performance hit would most likely not be worth it.
