Wave Idea #3: Switcher (With new obstacle)

Just a little idea i came up with. So let’s start with the new obstacle first. I introduce you: The Switcher:

This is another type of indestructible barrier, with another mechanic attached to it. When being shot one time, it’ll change the state of an object or a group of it. (This kinda incomprehensible so let’s go straight to the wave idea).


Before the wave appears, there’s a danger zone covering nearly half of the screen. This is how the wave looks like:

If your shot touch the Switcher Barrier, it will change the position of that four-barrier “gate” by rotating it, like this:

After being shot, the Switcher will take 10 seconds cooldown (including the time it changes the position of the objects group). In that cooldown time, the Switcher Barrier will change its indicator & color, like this:

Also while it’s cooling down, you can’t do anything to reswitch the “gate” position back to its initial one, and you can’t break it (obviosly ._.). It’s only possible right after the barrier displayed pink with a full round (meaning the cooldown time is over). After another shot hit it, i’ll change the “gate” back to its upper position.

Suggest that instead of rotating an arm of the barrier, it rotates the whole group around (i.e. the other arms and the chickens move too).

FYI this is probably the best idea I have heard here - it is simple, clean, and effectual.

Well… This is the first wave introducing this obstacle so I let it rotating the gate only, to let player understand how it work.

Yes this barrier can rotate a large group too, including objects like laser (they can also turn on, turn off) and maybe chicken too,…

Sure, and perhaps instead of rotate they could also move or stretch/pull/shrink, e.g. swap from one side to the opposite side of the screen.

Yeah, it’s a trigger which can swap between two opposite state, so it can do whatever is reasonable.

Reasonable is precedented. Consider a wormhole or roulette level with this swapper spinning everything around. Is that bad?

Yeah, taking precautions is alway one of the very first consideration.
