Suggestion: Wave Practice / Sandbox Mode for Training

Hi everyone,

I would like to propose a new feature that could greatly improve player engagement and help players develop their skills.

My idea is to introduce a dedicated “Practice / Sandbox Mode”.

How would it work?

  • Players would have access to a simulator panel where they can select any specific wave available in the game.
  • Full difficulty and layout configuration: You could freely adjust the exact difficulty percentage of the selected wave, as well as select the core difficulty tier (from Tourist to Superstar Hero), which also heavily affects enemy behavior. Crucially, the mode must support selecting specific enemy layouts. As we know, the exact same wave at 100% difficulty doesn’t always look the same—sometimes regular chickens spawn, other times it’s UFO chickens, and so on. The simulator should allow us to lock in and practice that one specific layout we want to master.
  • Custom loadout testing: Players could manually choose their spacecraft and weapon type (along with its power level) to test out specific scenarios. Best of all, you could freely set up and test your equipment without consuming or losing any of your actual inventory items or consumables during practice.

Access and Economy Rules:

  • Keeping it balanced: To keep things fair and balanced, access to this practice mode should be purchasable with real money as a standalone DLC. Since most active players already own the Chicken Hunter License, releasing this feature as a separate DLC ensures iA gets paid for their development time, while maintaining proper moderation in how the mode is used.
  • Completing waves in Practice Mode would obviously not award any points, keys, medals, or achievements.

Why is this needed?
Right now, the competitive scene is in a state where the exact same few people win every single time, and the rest of the players feel like they have absolutely no chance against them. Without a way to safely practice difficult wave patterns and their specific RNG configurations, the gap between the top veterans and the rest of the server is just too big, which discourages people from even entering tournaments.

If players were given a tool to freely practice specific waves in their full, scaled difficulty setups, they could finally bridge that gap and improve their skills. This would create much bigger and healthier competition on the leaderboards, making tournaments exciting for everyone again, rather than just handed to the same winners every time.

What do you think?

wow thanks for pointing that out as if i missed it

yas i guess so

I think we that players must be awarded after practices.
JUST IMAGINE THIS.
You bought the DLC, practiced and then after that you don’t get keys let alone to even think of points. It would be like buying a ticket for a movie you go to the theatre and there is no movie, and you just sit there.
So I suggest that players will get points but not keys. Because you can adjust dificulty which will affect the keys.

I have a better solution

How do you think ‘Practice Mode’ should be?
  • FFA (free for all)
  • Includid in CHL
  • Separate DLC

I proposed this solution because it would make doing regular missions pointless. Training mode is only for practicing waves, not for racking up points.

then make it free since it is for training. we are all recruits of the UHF.

Why did you choose Separate DLC?

This is my suggestion to encourage IA to adopt it more, but free of charge is also possible

Its a poll and I hold the right to choose any option, am I wrong?

Nope but why should we pay that is what I meant to say.

It balances out the importance of CHL
it increases the things unlocked with CHL but i have an idea

There will be a section (like leagues and quests) called workshop where people can make custom waves for other people to play. anyone can play the custom waves but only people with chl can make it

nice @Callum

I don’t agree because I know my weaknesses so why should someone be setting my training whiles they don’t know my status.

They would only create fun missions and you can play them
side note: I dont have chl okay

So you take this for fun or training?

I have written a big post, i will try to write it if i can
(its written in a physical book rn, i write all my topics physically before typing them)

Wave Practice / Sandbox Mode for Training V2 not affiliated or discussed with anyone before posting!

Just as the existence of league and quests, scrolling down would reveal the ‘workshop’ section.
(yes scrolling down, because there will be many other options coming for CIU so I want iA to make it scroll-able so there could me more options added)

What is in there?

The workshop will have two main sections. First one where players can ‘make / create’ custom missions with custom waves (as suggested) and they will show up in the Second section. The Second section is where players can play these missions.

How would it look like?

Im not going too deep in ‘Make’ area, I will focus on the ‘Play’ part.

You will see custom missions made by different people. You can set custom waves, mission types, environments, AND even set ‘requirements’ like only 3 hearts max, 2 max firepower, specified ship or weapon.

NOTE: People without CHL will not be able to play DT missions / waves!

Polls

Polls are a great way to know the opinions of the audience so I am making several polls down here:

Paid custom mission (keys)
Should making custom missions be
  • Free
  • Paid (in keys)
0 voters
If yes, then how many keys?
  • 50
  • 100
  • 250
  • 500
  • 1000
  • 2500
  • 5000

p/s: Depends option means the number of keys depends on the number of waves, waves used, mission type, environment used etc.

Approval
Should custom missions directly show up in the game or get approved?
  • Directly show up
  • Get approved
0 voters
If yes, who should approve them?
  • iA himself
  • a few approved-trustworthy people (iA is busy with xbox yk)

Limitation over making custom missions
Should a player have a limited number of custom missions?

If yes, should players with CHL have more amount of custom missions?
