Not sure if this is intented but if you die and decide to go and stay up after respawn and the links are fully closed there is no way to flip down in stream and finish the wave but only make use of portal or several mines/bombs. Maybe deactivating one link or more at random intervals or longer stream could work

As you can see by how the barriers are indestructible, Yes. It is intended.
For what reason you’d go up or down and then get stuck there? We already have anomalies at the far right and far left that change directions of your spacecraft. So this is not needed.
