It’s a big no no. Just no and no. Of course our loved keys also make a comeback, but here in most evil form. After release it was said that you will be able to buy keys for real money. But the store has mostly cosmetic items right? No, in this spin-off it actually has even more uses for keys that aren’t cosmetic - lives, satellites, special weapons, weapons, power levels, spaceships, spaceship upgrades. Power level alone can make it pay-to-win.

There is a “Scrooge McChick Certification” medal for amassing 100,000 keys and InterAction Studios did say that you will be able to purchase keys in-game in the Plan Update #01 :

The game’s currency is “keys” (as encountered in previous Chicken Invaders episodes). You can earn keys during the normal course of gameplay, or (optionally) be also able to purchase them. We do not know the cost of keys at this stage; it will be decided after balancing is finished.

With the 100,000 keys medal added into the game, I hope InterAction Studios will change their mind when the game is fully released, and make one-time permanent IAP instead:

Instead of using the traditional mechanic that so many games used, I’d like InterAction Studios to take a risk a bit and do like Super Mario Run , Smash Hit or previous mobile CI games, which all use one-time permanent IAPs (in-app purchases). For example, one-time IAP of USD$9.99 “premium bundle” includes all of the following (the in-game notification should say that once you buy the bundle, there are no more in-app purchases).

• Chicken Hunter License (as you already know)
• 1000 bonus keys (this is only obtainable once when you buy the entire bundle)
• Remove ads (if there will be ads in the future)
• A free random spacecraft from the Muller family.
• 3 of each special weapons (is it worth the price?)

The IAPs always heavily affect the rating of every game, positive or negative so this is very important.
