I recommend you to make space invaders on, idk, SFML first.
Also where is the story, idea, differences from other episodes and stuff? And why do you ask for the game engine if you can write your own? It would be definitely more fun. Look at CI72: it’s the definition of a good fan game. An epic story, new enemies with unique mechanics, almost all textures are made from scratch with dedication and wish put into it.
