That title totally confused me. I didn’t realize you were talking about food until I watched the video.
And,uh,it didn’t drop food because it was too far off-screen,I think

Food spawned outside the screen will only be kept if it’s heading down towards the ground. In this case, you got very unlucky: the boss was not only too high up, but also too far to the right, and all spawned food flew even further to the right (this is random), so it was deleted.
