Reimagining of this idea:
Active Invasion
In select planets whose missions have not seen completion in a week (must be flown directly, excluding profile>missions menu), the Henpire will appear and start an invasion. It is a stealth operation from the Henpire, hence, the mission needs to be “discovered” by orbitting the planet.
Timeline:
Undiscovered phase:
- The UHF will notify the galaxy to search for the invasion location. They do not know where or why, they just know that the Henpire is planning something, somewhere, and there’s a huge bonus for locating it.
- The mission will start with 5000 waves (10x5 format, Hybrid mission type). Every hour afterwards, 100 waves will be added to it. Caps out at 25k. Waves will stop being added when the mission is discovered by a player. Why? I am evil, and I want it to last at least a week to a month.
- There will be signs of chickens flying around the planet (see image). The longer the mission goes undiscovered, the more chickens will fly around the planet. At the cap of 25k, it will be painfully obvious (the chickens are taunting the recruits to try fight them while they steal all resources, btw).
The fight begins:
- The mission is considered “discovered” when a player chooses to fly it, the galaxy will receive a (Event tag) mail: “[Planet name] - Help required”, with a locate mission button to the right. The sooner they discover it, the more keys they will receive as a bonus from UHF.
- Multiple players participate in the same mission, they can fly solo but will make progress for other players too.
- The wave counter will display the number of waves remaining, instead of the X/y that traditional missions show. The wave counter is live, progress of other players will deduct the wave counter. Oh, and the less waves there are, the more difficult the mission becomes.
- One player can only fly 120 waves each day. Go to sleep.
- The amount of active players flying the mission will be displayed where the multiplayer list usually is, but without names and stats.
- The Surrender button will be replaced with a Retreat button, it still does the same thing, but will give you a PARTIAL result.
- When the amount of waves = players flying the mission, whoever completes a wave first gets kicked respectfully for their contribution. The mission will be locked until waves > players again (or just join a multiplayer host).
The aftermath
- There will be a huge score% bonus for participating. You might even get a medal, “World Saver Award” or something.
- A leaderboard will be announced after it all ends.
But why?
You see, I don’t move around often. Having this will give me an excuse to use wormholes again. And having a public event like this will create a lot of attention lol (lots of posts asking people to log in and fly blah blah blah), and we can have 30+ ships docked in the same planet again. In other words:
It’s to lure people into exploring lame star systems and waste their fuel. It’s all Gus’ Gas propaganda
- Yes
- No
- Yes, but I would like to suggest some changes.
