Not sure if it’s a bug, but I’m posting this anyway.
Also, grazing works even with Dimensional Phase outs and Extra lives.

It is pretty weird indeed and it seems to affect both visuals and audio, but at least no points are gained for the stars on meteors.
Did you move your pointer around?
The hitbox can still be moved even when you die, just that nothing can collide with it.
Fixed in v.32
